Otsu Prince Hotel (大津プリンスホテル)

Otsu Prince Hotel in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture is a business hotel built on the causeway surrounding lake Biwa. The world famous designer Kenzo TANGE was responsible for the design.

Summary

Built on the shore of Lake Biwa, the hotel has 38 stories and is 130m tall. As the tallest building in Shiga Prefecture the hotel has become a landmark. There are 540 guest rooms and all rooms have a full view of Lake Biwa. Guests can enjoy a large panorama including the expansive scenery of Lake Biwa and row of mountains such as Mt. Hiei, Mt. Hira, and the Suzuka Mountains from guestrooms. Besides this, the hotel has the Convention Hall Omi used for exhibitions, international conferences, parties and large events, which is the largest of its type in Japan.

The hotel has a welcome counter located at Kyoto Station where besides checking in and making reservations, it is possible to have luggage handed over at the counter conveyed to the hotel.

Guest can view the Biwa Fireworks display on August 8 each year from hotel guestrooms.

From the Otsu Prince Hotel Harbor (Niononohama Sighseeing Harbor) it is possible to take pleasure cruises of Lake Biwa on the Lake Biwa Steamboat (the boat only stops at the Harbor or operates when there are bookings).
